To fabricate the bone density measuring device integrated with specific wavelengths and intensities which can evaluate the bone density precisely, having low cost, compact size and non-harmful for human.

Portable Bone Density Measuring Device using Near-Infrared Spectroscopy is designed under the theory of light absorption at Near-Infrared region. This device transmits light irradiation (Io) from Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) through skin, muscle and bone. Then, transmitted light (I) will be detected by photo detectors (PDs) at measuring area. Principle of light absorbance at different wavelengths is used for identification of skin, muscle and bone in order to obtain a high precision. This mechanism can evaluate the bone density by custom-made specific algorithms. Moreover, the cost is lower and less effects on patient when compare with the convention method which using X-ray radiation. Therefore, it is able to say that the aim of this research is to fabricate the bone density measuring device integrated with specific wavelengths and intensities which can evaluate the bone density precisely, having low cost, compact size and non-harmful for human.
