Our research utilizes bio-nanomaterials to improve cell responses (growth, proliferation and differentiation) restoring normal tissues and to extend capabilities of in situ orthopedic sensors and energy-driven drug delivery systems. Currently, we investigate the potential use of graphene oxide nanocomposites on anodized titanium to increase bone-forming cell proliferation and differentiation, and also to suppress bacterial infection on implants. Graphene materials are also investigated as in-situ sensors and new microstrip antennas for orthopedic applications.
