We investigate the mechanical properties of chondrocyte experimentally through an atomic force microscope. Cell consists of nucleus, cell membrane, fluid inside the cell, and its structure is hold together by the cytoskeleton network. Understand the properties of cell and its mechanism is crucial, some leads to the relationship with disease such as the metastasis of cancer. Our study focuses on characterization of the biomechanical properties through the determination of the elasticity of the cell. Atomic force microscope or AFM was used to perform a nano-indentation test on the cell and the experimental results were analyzed based on continuum model.
