Currently, an orthodontic wire is used widely to treat disorders of the teeth. In orthodontics, there are 2 types of wires, which are commonly used, stainless steel and Ni-Ti shape memory alloys (SMA).Shape memory alloys shows superior properties for Orthodontics such as low and continuous forces which is suitable for physiological tooth movement. Moreover, it can reduce the patient’s pain. Moreover, since the range of tooth movement is 10 times larger than that of Stainless steel, the frequency of changing a wire and treatment time are decreased. Therefore, the present research is aimed to design, fabricate and improve mechanical properties by adding third-element into Ni-Ti alloys, addition, develop the mechanical treatment and heat treatment in order to obtain the excellent shape memory alloys to use as orthodontic wire with high efficiency.
