Our research group focuses on the development of biosensors for early detection of diseases such as sensors for hemoglobin and myoglobin detection as well as other heme-proteins which are particularly important for diagnostics of diseases such as thalassemia, leukemia, Anemia, and other heart diseases. We also develop sensors used for disease prevention or monitoring (sensor for blood glucose measurement) and sensors for detection of chemical contamination in food (Hydrogen Peroxide). The sensor development utilizes the unique properties of nanoparticles by modifying the surface of Carbon nanotubes or graphene with a chemical that is specific for detection of a molecule of interest resulting in a new type of composite that is specific for biomolecule detection with enhanced signal and sensitivity.
