The Biological Engineering Program at KMUTT has recently organized a special seminar on “Regenerative Medicine Opportunities in Thailand and Japan” on August 21, 2015 at Chatrium Hotel, Bangkok. This special seminar was intended to provide a platform for collaborative network among universities, funding agency, along with policy makers who strive to initiate Thailand the first commercialized cell production center which produces and develops cell/tissue under international standards and guidelines. At the moment, the project collaborators include Orthopedics department at Siriraj Hospital, Department of Dentistry at Mahidol University, and Professor Masahiro Kino-oka from Osaka University Japan.

The program gathered eminent speakers from Thailand and Japan who involved in current issues in cell production, research, clinical application in regenerative medicine, and policy. The seminar remarked current situation of regenerative medicine in Japan and Thailand and focused on how to pursue the best cell production system through the use of technologies.

 

Activities

BIO100 Biological Science in Modern Technology

This course will introduce you to a general overview of the biological world for all students except students in faculty of science. The course starts with key topics relevant to biological engineering area. After that the expertise in many areas involving biology will lecture with an emphasis on case studies, real-world applications. The subject involves some project work (which is presented in the last week of this subject). The subject has been designed to contain: participant 10 %, activities and homework assignments 20 %,project and presentation 30 %, final exam 40 %.

BIE Camp

Every year, the Biological Engineering Program organises the BIE Camp for the 3rd and 4th undergraduates, where they will have the chance to learn the research in biological engineering fields such as synthetic biology, bio-imaging, nanoengineering, biomaterials, biomechanics and tissue engineering, etc. Moreover, they will have an opportunities familiarise themselves with the environment in KMUTT. There also will be a wide variety of games and activities for students to ensure that students will have a unique and memorable experience.
